West Linton and District Beekeepers' Association (WLBKA) is a small, friendly beekeeping association formed in 1950 by four local West Linton beekeepers, though beekeeping in the village has a much longer history, evidenced by the bee boles in St Andrews Church Yard. The association is based in West Linton and the surrounding countryside spanning the Scottish Borders, Midlothian, Lanarkshire, and Peeblesshire. Members keep bees for a variety of reasons including honey production, colony welfare, and community. Their apiary is located near Carlops, and they produce limited harvest lots of local honey. Their honey sees bees foraging on a rich variety of native plants including ling heather, bell heather, willowherb, bramble, rubus, and the gardens and hedgerows of the local area. They sell honey by named lot, with Lot LWL23 being the first ever harvest from their apiary — a multi-floral blend — and Lot LWL24 being the second harvest. The association also offers a free swarm removal service and collaborates with nearby beekeeping associations and wider local and national organisations.
