Sweet Apiaries is a family-run bee farming business based in Clarkes Green, south Warwickshire, founded by Andy Sweet. Starting from a single hive purchased around 10 years ago, the operation has grown to manage many apiaries across the south Warwickshire countryside, including hives at Studley Castle (Warner Leisure) where beekeeping experience days are offered. The business specialises in Buckfast type bees, following the tradition of Brother Adam's Buckfast bees. All honey is unprocessed and unpasteurised, taken directly from the combs with nothing added or removed. Their product range targets seasonal crops and specific plants, including borage, field beans, echium, horse chestnut, lime, clover, and spring and summer honey. They also produce capped honeycomb, gift packs, and sell high-grade cappings wax. Sweet Apiaries breeds and sells local Buckfast type queen bees and has a full instrumental insemination lab. The team includes a registered Biomedical Scientist (Sam Sweet) supporting disease identification. Andy Sweet passed the DASH (Disease Assurance Scheme for Honeybees) training in 2023, and the business is a member of both the Bee Farmers Association and the National Bee Unit's DASH/FERA scheme. They supply honey to the public and commercially in bulk, with free local delivery available.
