About Us
Denrosa Apiaries, based in Coupar Angus, Perthshire, is one of the largest and longest-established bee farms in the UK, operating since 1950 when founder Ken McGregor built his first hives from wartime tractor packing cases. Now run by his son Murray McGregor and three of the next generation — Helen, Ross, and Linnet — the business has grown into a major commercial operation with over 25 employees in summer. Denrosa manages around 5,000 honey-producing colonies across eastern and central Scotland, producing approximately 100 tonnes of Scottish heather honey per year, sold exclusively in bulk to the trade. They also produce cut comb heather honey and Scottish Blossom honey. The business operates over 300 lowland sites for honey production and crop pollination, moving colonies to around 100 heather locations seasonally, operating across Perth and Kinross, Angus, Aberdeenshire, Inverness-shire, Fife, and the Lothians. Their fleet of distinctive Unimogs is well known throughout these areas. In addition to honey production, Denrosa runs a queen bee breeding unit and sells package bees, nuclei, and commercial-grade beekeeping equipment including hive parts, frames, foundation, and wax.
