Chain Bridge Honey Farm is a long-established, family-run honey producer and visitor attraction based in Horncliffe, near Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland, UK. Since its founding in 1948 by beekeeping advisor William Selby Robson, the business has grown from a small local apiary into one of the regionβs best-loved honey farms β now managed by successive generations of the Robson family who remain deeply committed to traditional beekeeping and sustainable honey production.
All of the honey and hive products originate from their own apiaries scattered across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. In good seasons the bees produce up to 50 tonnes of honey, foraging first on oilseed rape and later on wildflowers and heather, creating distinctive regional varietals such as light, sweet Tweedside honey and richly flavoured heather honey.
Beyond jars of pure honey and honeycomb, Chain Bridge Honey Farm offers a wide range of beeswax, propolis and honey-based products, including lip balms, skincare, soaps, pure beeswax candles, beeswax polishes, and thoughtful gift selections. Their online shop makes these products accessible to customers throughout the UK.
Visitors to the farm can explore a comprehensive visitor centre, museum and garden that tells the story of honey bees, bee behaviour, hive products, and the art and craft of beekeeping. Exhibits are enriched with beautifully hand-written displays, and an observation hive allows guests to watch bees working behind glass.
The farmβs location next to the historic Union Chain Bridge β the suspension link between England and Scotland β adds to its charm as a Northumberland destination. Chain Bridge Honey Farm remains free to visit and welcomes guests who enjoy learning about bees, tasting local honey, and shopping artisanal products that celebrate the natural bounty of the region.
